PsyMed Consulting is a partnership between psychiatrist and family physician Joby Morrow, MD and veterinary behavior consultant Rolan Tripp, DVM, CABC. The term “PsyMed” describes Dr. Tripp’s and Dr. Morrow’s areas of expertise: they have both spent their careers understanding how psychological stress contributes to medical illness and behavioral conditions. They are experts in mood and anxiety disorders in pets and people, and they use their rich knowledge of behavior to create wrap-around mental health services for the entire family.
This practice is focused on identifying anxiety and on preventing illnesses to which anxiety can contribute. These conditions include (but certainly aren’t limited to):
- Mood conditions (e.g., depression, catatonic states)
- Anxiety conditions (e.g., obsessive compulsive behaviors, trauma responses)
- Skin conditions (e.g., atopic dermatitis, skin picking)

PsyMed Consulting is a One Health practice, utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach to understand how humans and animals interact with their environments to create health. One Health represents a joint initiative of the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Medical Association. These organizations increasingly recognize that the epidemic of mental health conditions in animals and humans is an important area of focus.
